1.2 Conical shade

Total video length: 92 mn

The conical shade  is laminated also called "rigid". This model allows you to  choose the desired shape, evaluating the volume according to its future location, and according to the foot used. The conical shapes are multiple, and the template, even if the method remains  identical, is more difficult to trace  depending on the inclination and size of your  lampshade. He is often passed off as "simple".  This form is the prime example of what I call "apparent simplicity". .

The objective:  Learn to define shape, take dimensions and draw your own  template,  to laminate the fabric, then  to adjust and place  perfectly  margins and the  closing, to place the circles of a different diameter, to progress at the level of  finishes and rigor in precision, working in a small space.
The most :
This lampshade is made with the technique of flanging without bias, unlike what we find in industrial manufacture. The finish of the rolled-up fabric testifies to manual and artisanal work. The fabric used for this video is quite thick and little used in the traditional production of the lampshade. This difference and this know-how brings a more current style and responds to a new clientele.

1.4 Oval Cut Panel Shade

Total video length: 90 mn

The objective: To learn to draw the template side by side, to adjust and perfectly position the panels while becoming familiar with precision gestures. Learn to define a coefficient of gathers according to different factors, learn to measure, cut and sew the fabric, and finally learn the installation of braids.
The advantages: This lampshade allows you to review what has been learned with the cylindrical and conical lampshade by providing knowledge that will be useful for the realization of the pyramid and to approach in a simpler and faster way, the realization of the ruched shade.

The oval lampshade with cut sides is a lampshade with 4 sides. Its creation is done here by associating the technique of the laminated which prepares for the work other more complex shapes of lampshades (tulip, pagoda and others ...) and which gives a base of knowledge in the realization of the lampshade. - gathered day.

1.5 Conical Collar and Scallop Shade

Total video length: 106 mn

The conical lampshade with free scallops is a laminated lampshade also called "Rigid". This style fits into the current trend of Shabby chic. It is often presented in a very romantic style. The choice of festoon and fabric allows you to stand out from what is already being done.

The objective:  Learn or revise the calculation and layout of the template for conical shade, acquire the dexterity necessary for the embankment on a narrow circle. Learn to calculate the number of scallops based on the perimeter of the lampshade, then choose and draw the scallop. Learn to apply different braids (medallion and festoons) and create discreet connections.
The most :
Learn to place the fabric (stripes) then to center the medallion before laminating. The braid used is a very fine soutache (3 mms), which requires you to work the finishes with precision. The braid (lizard) which surrounds the medallion must have an invisible connection since it is located on the front of the lampshade.

You also learn how to make the "removable" collar without having to hide the connection with a ribbon or a knot, contrary to what is normally done. This allows you to differentiate yourself in the working technique. This realization makes it possible to offer a lighter, more refined model and therefore more up-to-date.

2.1 Tulip lampshade

Total video length: 90 mn

La Tulipe is an 8-sided glued lampshade. You learn a technique similar to that of the pyramidal rectangle, but more complex, because you have to take into account the location of the braid which is on the edge of each transverse rod. The preparation is long, each panel is adjusted to the nearest half a millimeter, because they must fit together like a puzzle.

This technique, like that of the pyramid, makes it possible to work with various types of lampshades with a Couture effect, and brings great satisfaction in its realization and in the rendering of the interior result of the lampshade.

The objective: To learn to draw the template, to adjust and perfectly position the panels while becoming familiar with the precision gestures essential to the various laminating techniques. Learn to be methodical in the chronological development of this achievement.
Advantages: This lampshade is made of silk, which must be laminated with patience, because the silk moves. The braid used is a very fine soutache (3 mms), which requires beautiful finishes. The finishing work is a major step, its success testifies to professional know-how.

2.3 Gathered with Bias

Total video length: 50 mn

The objective : Learn to measure and cut the fabric, learn to define the coefficient of gathers according to certain criteria. Learn to distribute and sew the gathers, then to stretch the fabric, cut the braids at an angle and sew them without any visible seams.
Most:
This technique makes it possible to stand out from the classic couture lampshade, because the technique avoids the installation of traditional braid. The bias, placed at the top and bottom of the lampshade provides a beautiful original finish

The unlined ruched clip-on shade is an addition to the knowledge you may have acquired. Its realization is done in a more modern way in the technique, also faster. Its particularity is to have stripes in the bias which give a more refined style compared to a pose of traditional stripes. This work, little used in France, makes it possible to stand out.

formation abat-jour pagode LFDT-atelier

2.4 Pagoda

Total video length: 115 mn

The Pagode couture lampshade is one of the most delicate and time-consuming shades to make. The work is complex and requires real know-how in the placement of the fabric, respecting its meaning. This lampshade, made on the basis of 3 fabric panels, familiarizes you with the specific gestures of placing the skirt and the lining.

The objective: Understand the production of lampshades on 4, 6, or 8 panels. You should know that the number of panels is defined according to the bending of the carcass. The more the frame is bent, the more panels it requires.
Technical learning: Take, trace then reproduce the template. Understand the tension mechanisms, work and place the fabric. Act according to the weft and the specificity of the fabric. Sew by machine, then learn to sew regularly by hand. Learn how to perfectly line up the machine seams with the side seams. Apply the stripes
The pluses: This taut stitched lampshade is made in a brocade, which allows you to get used to a particular fabric, and to teach you how to work it so that it fits perfectly. You learn to make the piping in 2 different sizes, then to put it with a soutache for one and a cracked braid for the other

2.6 Large Template (Capsule)

Total video length: 40 mn

The "large size" lampshade is currently in great demand. Its realization requires most of the time to work on a solid carcass, to then cut the transverse rods. The video shows all the steps: Search for the prototype, calculation of the ployphane footage, fabric (with weft, with or without print) for the production of the estimate, layout of the template, specificity of the installation of a thin, transparent fabric on a large template .

It is important to have learned how to make the conical lampshade before accessing this course and to have followed the theoretical course on the calculation of the estimate before accessing this course

The objective: To meet a current demand, because the lampshades of the 60s / 70s are at the end of their life and their restoration is necessary. These are most often lamp shades. The layout of the template is a particular technique which requires know-how.
Advantages: This video allows you to learn how to quickly draw a template to establish an estimate in front of your customer, with the calculation of all the useful yardages, and to immediately know the necessary fabric according to its weft, and its print . This technique will show your client your know-how and your professionalism.

3.1 Neo-Couture Pagoda

Total video length: 45 mn

This technique allows to have a different approach in the realization and in the result compared to  the classic "Couture" lampshade. This will especially allow you to offer a  "Couture" lampshade without any braid, since there is no visible seam.
This pagoda,  made without a liner also allows  people having undergone the training to revise the progress of the realization of the stretched lampshade in its entirety.

pliage3.jpg

3.2 Rigid Fold

Total video length: 55 mn

The folding technique requires very high precision when tracing the template. If there is the slightest lag at the start, it will have repercussions  on the following games and the polyphane cannot be placed on the games.
The advantage of this technique is that it does not have to put stripes on the edges, unlike the rigid technique with independent sides. Its realization is possible with a plain fabric in its print and in its weft, or if the print is discreet.

foto_jupon1.jpg

3.3 Petticoat Couture

Total video length: 60 mn

The goal is to learn how to achieve a romantic shape with a model revisited on the basis of an ancient technique.
Here you learn how to work the Scottish fabric fittings, respecting the visual. In this video, you learn how to make 3 headband models, in order to broaden your creative knowledge. Stand out from a style  "Classic" in order to  to respond to a more current clientele, in demand of an offbeat and sought-after style.

aj_lacroix1.jpg

3.4 Conic Lacroix

Total video length: 30 mn

This conical lampshade dressed inside / outside allows you to review the progress of the realization of the rigid lampshade  as a whole, considering that the calculation and  layout of the template is already acquired.
You learn how to work with double-sided polyphane, and mainly to do a nice roll-up job, knowing that the inside is dressed. The lampshade is made with an embroidered lycra veil and a relatively thick inner canvas. The interest is  working with textiles rarely used in the creation of lampshades, playing on prints and transparency.

palmier0.jpg

3.5 Couture Palm

Total Video Length: 80  mn

You are working on this model with a double Couture lampshade with the Tendu technique, as you learned with the Tendu Oval then the Pagoda. The shape represents 2 different domes positioned in a mirror. The specificity of the Dome is that it works with finesse on the circle, which is often very narrow. You have little room for maneuver because little space. The goal is to sew with a fine seam if you want to apply a fine braid so as not to weigh down the whole which already provides a lot of visual information. You will see how to work thick fabric on a relatively small template.

pyra_plis1.jpg

3.6 Couture Honeycomb

Total video length: 90 mn

This technique allows you to learn to work the sewing lampshade in independent panels, and not in a skirt as is usually done. This technique is widely used in the United States and allows to work the fabric while respecting the prints if there is. You will also see that it is possible to work this model in laminate. The course also addresses a current technique already studied in the video "Pagode Néo Couture" and which responds to current demands and trends.

SAM_5276.JPG

3.7 Crossed Twist Couture

Total video length: 70 mn

This technique allows you to learn to work a pleated at an angle called "Twist" or "twister". 2 main difficulties: Work 12 panels in the blur (the most difficult fabric to work) and position the panels without any "external" seam so as not to apply braids, and thus to be able to highlight the muslin, and the work of the crossed pleated which is sufficient on its own.
It should be remembered that the simpler the work, the more difficult the finishes are to achieve. It is once again in this course, to familiarize yourself with acquiring  a sharp technique that allows you to have a "refined" work without frills.
